Wow. I happened to see the quote as I was browsing for teaching strategies. I passed over it once, and read it as a scrolled back up the page. And it stopped me in my tracks. “If there were no students in the room, could you do what you are planning to do? If so, DON’T DO IT.”
Do you realize what that means? No lectures, no “sit and watch while I show you”, no handing out worksheets, no teaching from a whiteboard. I consider myself a rather unconventional teacher who teaches with an interesting approach…but even I cannot say I consistently live that quote! Hey, want a challenge? Take this one. With me. I rarely pass up a good challenge~ :))
