A Fun Way to Improve Handwriting

Yo!  Just wanted to share a fun way of practising writing.  This is what we did in class recently.  We were practising the writing strokes (like circles and squiggles) that would help with writing mastery… take a look:

Using drawing to practise handwriting

Some were done by my student, and some were done by yours truly. :)  Hey and we weren’t just drawing animals, you know!  Look carefully at the picture… we practised strokes for the letters…

  • M in the camel
  • S in the snake (also L in her version of the snake [see the nose?])
  • X in the alligator
  • O in the caterpillar and butterfly

…and so on.  My goal in doing this little exercise with her wasn’t so much to write letters, but to practise those movements with a writing tool… and we had fun! :)

So if you’re looking for a way to improve handwriting, drawing (combined with other helpful things) can be a great help.  So leave out a stack of pencils and scrap paper, and draw away!  Have fun!!!

Thank you for reading!

    • Ah, merci! :D It was one of those spur-of-the-moment inspirations that we sometimes get in desperate moments when our minds go blank… know what I mean?

…and probably in no small part thanks to the inspiration I get from creative lecturers too! :)

(btw, your nice quiet day at home yesterday sounded soooo nice!!! Ooh, I want one of those tooooo *hands folded begging* haha!)
